INTENSIVES

Where, When, How:
Crafting Confident & Creative Footwork

Footwork isn't just about filling space - it's about making choices that mean something. In this 2-hour intensive, we'll break down the art of footwork using three questions:

Where are your feet going?
When are you placing them?
How are they moving?
We'll start with clean, confident basics as the foundation for creative variations. You'll learn how to play with rhythm, direction, and texture without losing control, connection, or clarity. This class is perfect for dancers who want to explore where precision meets creativity.

Thursday 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Cost: $50 before October 10th , $75 on site (* For Weekend Pass Holders)

**If you are only able to make Thursday night, you can do the intensive and the dance for $75 if you email TBC@FLORIDADANCEEVENTS.COM by 10/31! After 10/31 it will be $100 for the intensive and dance.

Music Theory for Westies
Unlock the Music. Elevate Your Dance.

This unique workshop is designed specifically for West Coast Swing
dancers who love the music - but aren’t professional musicians.
If you've ever wondered what terms like, pre-chorus, sixteenth notes, or
bridge really mean, or how to recognize them while dancing, this class is for you.

We'll break down popular songs using visual tools and audio isolation
techniques to reveal what’s happening beneath the surface, and you'll
learn to identify individual elements like vocals, drums, or bass, and
develop your ear to follow each one with intention.

We’ll also explore how musical phrasing and form create cues you can
feel, anticipate, and respond to, making your dancing more musical,
dynamic, and confident. And we'll even dive into the mystery of Blues!

Whether you're a social dancer or a competitor, this workshop will
transform how you hear music - and how you move to it.

Chris has been passionate about partner dancing since college, starting
with Lindy Hop and Blues before finding his true home in West Coast Swing.

For the past eight years, he has competed and taught as an All-Star on
stages around the world. He is the co-founder and manager of WOW in
Orlando and the director of Orlando Westie Prom, a premier fall dance
workshop event.

Beyond the dance floor, Chris is a professional musician with an
extraordinary career. In 2000, he founded the a cappella vocal band Home
Free, spending 16 years touring nationally and internationally before
winning a reality TV competition on NBC in 2013. In 2016, he launched
his solo career, releasing over a dozen albums across multiple genres
including classical piano, pop, country, and gospel. His videos have
amassed over half a billion views, and he continues to blend his love of
dance and music in pursuit of his artistic vision.
